This image illustrates how the early campus resembled a country estate.

This image illustrates how the early campus resembled a country estate.

It consisted of stately buildings, its own power house, sewage system, farm and stables. This photo, taken about 1913, shows how students could mount their horses at the newly complete residences (Saskatchewan Hall) and go for a ride in the country.

The image is from the McKay Family Papers that document several aspects of the prominent Saskatchewan family’s history.

The photo is from Annie Maude “Nan” McKay’s undergraduate time on campus. She earned a B.A. in 1915 and worked at the University Library for 44 years.
